Gretchen Byrd of Richmond, is a partner with LeClairRyan and has a broad-based litigation practice focused on business disputes, including contract disputes, corporate governance issues, business torts, real estate matters, employment issues, and shareholder derivative and dissolution actions. Byrd also defends claims brought under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and handles appellate matters. She has been recognized as a Virginia Super Lawyers Rising Star by Law & Politics Magazine for Business Litigation each year since 2013. Byrd graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in Government in 1999. She subsequently attended the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond, where she received her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, and was a member of the McNeill Law Honor Society and the Lewis F. Powell, Jr. American Inn of Court. Following law school, she completed a clerkship with the Honorable Donald W. Lemons of the Supreme Court of Virginia, before beginning her career with LeClairRyan.
