For Students:

VFCCE Scholarships

If you’re like many Virginians, you may believe that college is beyond your reach—either financially, culturally, or practically. Maybe you attended college for a while but struggled to complete your degree because you lacked the support you needed to balance the real world demands of jobs, family, finances, or relationships. Perhaps you simply need someone to help you navigate your options and make the best decisions to help you reach your goals.

Through career coaching, emergency support, scholarships, fellowships, and more, the VFCCE works to make community college education affordable and accessible for all Virginians.

The Virginia Foundation for Community College Education has helped students with challenges just like yours achieve what they never thought possible. Learn more about our scholarships and fellowship programs below and find out how the VFCCE may be able to help you.

Peyton was able to pursue a degree in nursing thanks to the Chris Lumsden Commonwealth Legacy Scholarship awarded to her through the VFCCE.

How to Apply

We’ve made it easy to apply for any of the VFCCE scholarships by completing one online application. Upon successful completion of the application, you will be considered for all scholarships provided through the Virginia Foundation for Community College Education for which you qualify.

The VFCCE offers over 100 individual scholarships each year to help full-time and part-time students pay for tuition, fees, and textbooks. Scholarships vary in award amount and are available for students in all majors and at all 23 community colleges throughout Virginia.

To ensure that your application is reviewed for all qualifying scholarship awards, please check that all required fields are completed properly and that requested files are attached.

To complete a scholarship application, you’ll need:

  1. A copy of your academic transcripts
  2. A completed copy of your FAFSA
  3. High school or college ID number
  4. Contact information for two teachers and/or work or volunteer supervisors who can provide a reference or recommendation
  5. A copy of your resume (helpful, but not required)

Applications will open soon for the 2022-23 academic year.

For best results, we recommend completing your scholarship application on a computer rather than a mobile device.
