The Virginia Foundation for Community College Education

VFCCE Fellows Program

Fellowships: Opportunities for Future Leaders

Fellowships are awarded to full-time, second-year students who have strong academic records and demonstrate leadership potential in designated fields of study. In addition to financial awards to help advance their academic studies, Fellows participate in special activities including conferences, meetings, and presentations designed to highlight aspects of leadership in the public and private sectors.

The Fellows program is made possible through the following partners that believe in the transformational power of education:

  • Potomac Health Foundation
  • Virginia Bankers Association Education Foundation
  • Ms. Ellen Spong
  • Ms. Faith Sartoris and the late Mr. Laurens Sartoris

“After obtaining my associate degree, I plan to attend Old Dominion University or Virginia Commonwealth University to earn a bachelor’s degree in accounting. I aspire to become a CPA. As a part-time Person Care Aid, I also want to attend nursing school for my RN license.”

“Other attempts at school were derailed and I am finally in a position where I have the chance to complete my education or further continue it. I hope to lead my own team one day or run a department in cyber security. Technology is going to get more advanced and pathways to break into peoples computers or gaining access to unauthorized areas is going to be an issue. The further I educate myself and further I hone my skills, the more protected the people around me will be.”

Christopher
Northern Virginia Community College, Potomac Health Foundation Fellow

“I am pursuing my general studies in health science and will transfer to George Mason to continue my education with my bachelor’s in health management. I want to continue being an asset to the health industry and the community.”
