Named for the commonwealth-wide impact of the Virginia Community College System, the Commonwealth Circle is the annual giving society at the Virginia Foundation for Community College Education (VFCCE).

Members contribute $1,000 or more during the fiscal year (July 1–June 30) to the Accelerate Opportunity Fund, fueling student success across all 23 community colleges and 40 campuses. As a member, you are a partner in transforming lives, strengthening our workforce, and ensuring no Virginian is left behind.

The Impact

The Accelerate Opportunity Fund is the VFCCE’s primary vehicle for agility and innovation. While restricted gifts support specific programs, this fund gives the Foundation the flexibility to meet students where they are—and respond when it matters most.

  • Respond to Crises:

    Deploy emergency aid when students face unexpected barriers – a car repair, a medical bill, a childcare gap– that could derail their education.

  • Fuel Innovation:

    Launch and scale impactful programs like Great Expectations, which has helped over 4,800 foster youth pursue higher education.

  • Build the Workforce:

    Ensure high-demand programs in healthcare, IT, and skilled trades have the resources to fill Virginia’s workforce gaps.
